About the role
This position requires giving chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trials infusion, and other infusion-related services as well as blood work, dressing changes, and injections in a fast-paced outpatient infusion center setting. The role also involves caring for post Bone Marrow Transplant patients and requires the ability to respond and handle urgent medical emergencies. Autonomous nursing care is expected, with independent judgment exercised within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and clinical trials infusion
- Perform blood work, dressing changes, and injections
- Provide care for post Bone Marrow Transplant patients
- Respond to urgent medical emergencies
- Exercise autonomous nursing care and independent judgment consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
- Current California RN license
- BART or BLS certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months
- ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with recent experience (within the last 6 months)
- Minimum one year of recent (within the last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience, with experience infusing cancer-directed therapy
- Proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated empathy and kindness to all staff and patients
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- Recent infusion center experience
- Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) experience
- Clinical Trials Infusion experience
- OCN certification
Special Conditions
- Ability to work various hours and locations based on business needs
- Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
- Must work at least 3 weekend days a month
- Must be able to float to Hillcrest Infusion if needed
Pay
Hourly rate: $91.16. Annual full pay range: $190,342 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Factors determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and business needs.
Schedule
- Per Diem appointment at 20% time
- 10-hour shifts, Sunday through Saturday
