Registered Nurse Infusion (RN) (31729)

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced RN Infusion to provide professional nursing care for patients, including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical evaluation while following established professional standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.
• Obtains and documents health history, chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors; assesses disease condition.
• Provides patient care based on nursing practice guidelines, company policies, INS standards, and federal/state laws.
• Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers medications, and monitors/document treatment progress and patient response.
• Consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
• Educates patients and families about health status, maintenance, and management of acute/chronic conditions.
• Documents patient assessment and intervention data using medical record forms/automated systems.
• Maintains/reviews patient records, charts, and posts test/examination results.
• Maintains accurate inventory of all medications.
• Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
• Administers medications via PO, IV, SC, and IM as prescribed.
• Coordinates and executes treatment plans for patients and schedules follow-up appointments.
• Collaborates with GIA Research department as required.
• Performs other duties as directed or assigned.

Requirements

• Current state registered nurse license.
• Current CPR certificate.
• CRNI certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years professional nursing experience.
• Minimum of 1 year infusion experience in acute, outpatient, home, and/or physician office setting.
• Gastroenterology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• RN degree from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing processes, health care systems, structure, and functions; community resources.
• Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies.
• Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, INS standards, and GIA policies.
• Proficiency in obtaining/maintaining intravenous access (peripheral IV catheter insertions and/or central venous access devices).
• Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation and federal/state HIPAA laws.
• Knowledge of common OSHA safety hazards and precautions.
• Skill in applying nursing principles, methods, and techniques for ongoing patient care.
• Skill in time management, problem-solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination.
• Skill in verbal and written communication.
• Skill in crisis intervention and emergency response.
• Skill in patient triage (in-person and phone).
• Skill in preparing/maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
• Ability to counsel patients/families about choices and make referrals.
• Ability to read/interpret physician orders and notes from other providers.
• Ability to calculate/administer drug dosages and injections and measure results.
• Ability to maintain quality control standards.
