RN-Registered Nurse / Evening Shift / Part-time
Location: Montevideo, MN
Part-time, unlimited (permanent) position. Evening shift: 2:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., including weekends as assigned.
About the role
As a Registered Nurse at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Montevideo, you will deliver care within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with current federal, state, and Veteran Administration regulations. Responsibilities include assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide quality resident-centered care that meets the physical and psychosocial needs of veterans.
This position is part-time, primarily on the evening shift, with a schedule of at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period. Additional hours may be assigned based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for full employer contribution toward health and dental insurance benefits.
New hires may be eligible for a $6,000 signing bonus.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care within the RN scope of practice, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Deliver resident-centered care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of veterans.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
- Complete electronic charting using PointClickCare.
- Maintain effective communication to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota with no restrictions and in good standing. If not currently licensed in Minnesota, you must be able to obtain licensure by the date of hire. Future RNs within six months of graduating and taking the NCLEX-RN are encouraged to apply; contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of the NCLEX-RN.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, or ability to be certified by the date of hire.
- Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions and teach residents.
- Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting in PointClickCare.
- Pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check (conducted on top finalist(s)).
- Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest x-ray required prior to employment.
- Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or other senior healthcare environment.
- Experience working with a veteran population.
- Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques to provide effective care and make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Experience with Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments.
Pay
Salary range: $40.59 - $60.06 per hour, plus a $2.75/hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
