RN - Registered Nurse / Full-Time, Evening Shift

Open to all qualified job seekers. Full-time, unlimited position located in Preston, MN. This role is not eligible for telework and requires evening shift work (2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.) on a varying schedule, including every other weekend.

About the role

As an RN for the Minnesota Veterans Home-Preston, you will deliver care within the RN scope of practice, as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with current federal, state, and Veteran Administration regulations. Responsibilities include providing assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver quality resident-centered care that meets the physical and psychosocial needs of residents. This position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care within the RN scope of practice, including assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Deliver resident-centered care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of veterans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
  • Complete electronic charting using PointClickCare.
  • Maintain effective communication to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents.

Requirements

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing. If not currently licensed in Minnesota, you must be able to obtain licensure by the date of hire.
  • Future RNs within six (6) months of graduating and taking the NCLEX-RN may apply; contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of NCLEX-RN.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, or ability to be certified by the date of hire.
  • Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents.
  • Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting in PointClickCare.
  • Pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check (conducted on top finalist(s)).
  • Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest x-ray required prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or other senior healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with the Veteran population.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective care and make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments.

Pay

$40.59 - $60.06 per hour ($84,751 - $125,405 annually) plus a $2.75 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. A new hire bonus of $6,000 may be available.
