RN Registered Nure, OR, Peri-Operative Training Program
Overview
The Perioperative Internship Program is an intense, in-depth orientation in which nurses are trained to work in the operating room following Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) guidelines. The first ten weeks consist of didactic and clinical exposure in the operating room. At the end of the session there is an Exam. Upon completion of the AORN exam, the interns are then placed in the clinical setting. The next 3-4 months are spent in the OR with a preceptor, rotating through each subspecialty.

Start Date would be after Labor Day 2026
Requirements
- Previous med surg or other nursing experience preferred
- The perioperative training program lasts approximately 6 months
- 8 hour shifts for that time (week 1= four 8 hour shifts, week 2=five 8 hour shifts)
- The choice to move to three 12 hour shifts per week when orientation is complete
- Weekend and call shifts are required once off orientation
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BSN preferred. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
Certifications/Licenses
- CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing. Health care provider certification (BCLS).
