About the role
The Clinical Staff PACU Nurse is a registered nurse responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in the post-anesthesia setting.
Responsibilities
- Utilize nursing processes to assess, plan, and adapt care; recognize clinical changes; prioritize patient needs; and ensure follow-through.
- Provide age-appropriate care, apply current research, and foster therapeutic nurse-patient relationships.
- Conduct hourly patient rounds, communicate effectively using SBAR, and document assessments and care plans in line with hospital policies.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary discharge planning, communicate patient condition changes, and evaluate intervention outcomes.
- Supervise ancillary staff, maintain a safe environment, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Support hospital readiness activities and adhere to professional standards and dress code.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
- Current California RN license.
- Minimum of one year of experience in critical care or acute care.
- Certification in Post Anesthesia Nursing is a plus.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Ability to participate in CPI training within 90 days of hire.
