Part Time PACU RN

About the Role

Connecticut Orthopaedics Specialists is seeking a part-time Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) for our surgery center in Branford, CT. The Staff Nurse will provide care to patients 12+ through assessment, planning, treatment, and evaluation, delivering safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
• Set priorities and provide clear, concise direction to others to promote efficiency throughout the facility.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, teammates, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Recognize legal and policy limits of individual practice.
• Assess, plan, evaluate, and implement patient care to achieve identified outcomes and ensure safe patient care per facility policy.
• Assess patient status on admission and on an ongoing basis.
• Implement appropriate standards of care based on assessment data and patient goals.
• Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and ensure readiness for discharge.
• Provide organized and timely patient care daily.
• Adhere to all facility policies and procedures when delivering care.
• Utilize nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
• Direct and provide patient care in emergency situations.
• Assess learning needs based on patient’s level of understanding and readiness to learn.
• Evaluate patient’s progress toward outcome achievement on an ongoing basis.
• Revise plan of care based on changes in patient status and/or information gathered at shift change.
• Document patient’s progress toward achievement of outcomes.
• Direct others in the implementation of the teaching plan.
• Assume an active role in providing quality nursing care.
• Analyze nursing care provided in the facility relative to established standards.
• Participate in monitoring and evaluating nursing care provided.
• Assign patient care responsibilities based on patient needs and staff abilities.
• Assume charge nurse responsibility as assigned.
• Make decisions concerning facility-based problems.
• Participate on the quality council to facilitate improvement of patient care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU, ER, or ICU settings.
• Current state licensure to practice.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or current certification.
• Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or current certification.
• Successful completion of PALS Course within 90 days of employment or current certification.

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week. Weekday hours only.
