About the role

As a highly-skilled compassionate NICU Nurse, you will deliver exceptional patient care to our most vulnerable patients—premature and sick newborns. In addition to providing around-the-clock care to these patients, NICU RNs offer support to parents, with a focus on emotional encouragement and education. Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a full-service hospital with 318+ patient beds, serving southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, and parts of Montana. Our facility includes an ER, a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (one of two in Idaho), the only Burn Center in Idaho, the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and a 74-bed Behavioral Health Center. We are part of the HCA Healthcare network, offering opportunities for travel and relocation.

Responsibilities

• Perform life-sustaining care for newborns in need and assess neonates at delivery, including neonatal resuscitation if necessary.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide vital nutrients to newborns.
• Maintain and update records of patient care to ensure infants are breathing and maturing properly.
• Work closely with department leadership and physicians to coordinate treatment plans and examinations.
• Educate parents on day-to-day operations/goals, treatment plans, and at-home care procedures.
• Act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
• Neonatal Resuscitation (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date).
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date).
• One or more years of NICU RN experience strongly preferred. In lieu of NICU experience, multiple years of RN critical care experience would be required.
