RN ICU Days

Intensive Care Unit – a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that includes Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, and Cardiac patients. Patient ratio is 1:2 across 20 beds. Department features Level II Trauma designation, Primary Stroke Center, thrombectomy capability, 24/7 Intensivist coverage, strong physician-surgeon collaboration, unit-based councils, and pathways for advanced education (Nurse Practitioner, CRNA, etc.). Responsibilities

• Oversee patient care using a professional practice model
• Perform patient assessments, recognize health issues, create and evaluate care plans, and assess patient responses
• Secure patient travel and address patient needs in healthcare
• Help patients and prevent issues in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act
• Delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies
• Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs
• Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans; adjust plans to achieve desired outcomes
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism
• Create care plans reflecting patient values to aid in resolving issues
• Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower informed healthcare choices
• Assess and document learning needs regularly
• Collaborate with colleagues and community to create care plans
• Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly
• Use problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff
• Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care
• Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and support peers’ development
• Demonstrate commitment to community service

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Active RN license
• BLS certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire if not already certified)
• 1 year of recent ICU experience

Skills

• Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and laws
• Knowledge of hospital procedures and rules
• Proficiency in medical terminology, health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects
• Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Positive social skills for interacting with diverse parties
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, email)

$5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

Shift: Full-time Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
