Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a House Supervisor RN for a contract position in Templeton, CA. This role acts as a charge nurse for the entire hospital, responding to codes, coordinating care, and resolving issues across units. Nurses with ED or critical care experience are preferred.

About the Location

Twin Cities Community Hospital is a 122-bed acute care facility serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. The hospital provides emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorder care, wound care, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Templeton offers a charming small-town atmosphere with weekly farmers markets, farm-to-fork dining, scenic hiking and biking trails, and beaches just fifteen minutes away in Cambria and Morro Bay.

Schedule

  • Variable shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
  • Primarily rotating days with occasional nights
  • Shift times: 0600 to 1830, with occasional 1800 to 0630
  • Rotating days of the week

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall supervision of the organization in collaboration with and in the absence of the administrative/executive team.
  • Makes administrative decisions, collaborates with Nursing Directors and other departments, and ensures patient and staff safety.
  • Oversees the functioning of the organization and assists with/facilitates clinical functions.
  • Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
  • Supervises nursing personnel and operations by making regular rounds.
  • Assesses routine and non-routine patient conditions through symptom identification, behavioral changes, medical history, physical exams, and care plans.
  • Develops and revises interdisciplinary care plans for unusual cases, making appropriate referrals (e.g., dietary, spiritual care).
  • Responds to all acute unit codes and attends to medical emergencies for inpatients.
  • Coordinates with other area supervisors to provide advice or assistance as needed.
  • Facilitates hospital throughput, including bed placement, patient transfers, and discharges.
  • Participates in discharge planning with patients, physicians, social workers, and other personnel.
  • Supervises professional and ancillary personnel, including orientation and training of registry/traveler staff and new employees.
  • Ensures the quality and effectiveness of patient care through direct observation, rounds, report reviews, and medical record documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Adjusts unit-based staffing to meet patient needs while observing regulatory mandates and budget guidelines.
  • Evaluates and resolves employee, patient, family, and physician complaints.
  • Maintains standards of acceptable quality care through collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience (Required)
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • Five years of technical experience (Preferred)
  • One year of experience in a critical care setting (Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice (Required)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor (Required)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (Required)
  • Clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification (Preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical care or ED experience
  • Five or more years of experience

Organizational Requirements

All associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.
