Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Nursing Executive Team in formulating goals and objectives for Nursing Services and follows through with assignments and responsibilities.
- Routinely recommends new or revised methods and procedures as needed to stay current with the state-of-the-art and with regulatory requirements, and so that activities can be accomplished in less time, with less effort, or with better quality.
- Regularly identifies and studies nursing service problems and makes feasible recommendations for resolution or improvement.
- Methodically evaluates and provides relevant and valid recommendations with respect to staffing, new equipment, services and products, making budget recommendations for their incorporation where feasible and beneficial.
- Evaluates nursing services staffing patterns in accordance with patient care needs at the beginning and throughout the shift, and effectively and appropriately resolves staffing problems due to absences, or changes in patient census or acuity as they occur.
- Effectively coordinates communications and administrative details, and resolves any problems associated with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, so that functions are accomplished without error, omission, or delay.
Education Requirements
- Graduate of an approved nursing program
- Must obtain BSN per clinical ladder policy
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Bachelors of Nursing
- BCLS Certification
- ACLS Certification
- CPI Certification (Must obtain within 1 year of hire)
- Specialty certification (i.e., CEN, RN-BC, PCCN, NE-BC, etc.)
Professional Experience Requirements
- 3 years of experience as Healthcare/Medical - Nurse: Registered Nurse

Incumbents are accountable to the North Carolina Board of Nursing for practicing nursing within the scope of the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act.
