About the Role

You will communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and all aspects of the healthcare team. As a House Supervisor RN, you will promote and enforce customer service standards, support department directors with staffing, and provide feedback on staff performance. You will maintain accurate staffing and census reports and act as an in-house resource for staff, patients, visitors, and physicians.

  • Assist units and families with patient deaths
  • Respond to potential and/or actual emergency situations (e.g., RRT, Code Blue, Code Sepsis, MEWS & PEWS Trauma Alerts)
  • Work with the Transfer Center to obtain and communicate bed assignments and coordinate transportation
  • Communicate with peers, nurse managers, and others to exchange feedback on service issues and resolve problems, including patient and physician complaints
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using hospital information systems, including online forms for notifications, code critique, and chart review
  • Pursue opportunities for personal and professional growth
  • Assist with the orientation of new hires, including new shift administrators
  • Manage specific routines such as responding to unit requests for pharmaceuticals after hours, coordinating OR cases, and assisting with stat C-sections or NICU setups
  • Regularly round on units and inpatient areas to interact with patients, families, and visitors to improve the patient experience
  • Provide leadership through coordination of clinical services during day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, including monitoring financial indicators and adjusting staffing
  • Promote team building and department cohesiveness through open communication and collaboration

Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 4 months of employment start date)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date)
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Three years of RN experience (five years preferred)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN preferred)
