RN - Head Nurse - Medical/Surgical Observation

About the Role

The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a nursing unit. They utilize the nursing process for clinical decision-making, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality care that respects patient rights and autonomy. They provide clinical leadership, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, review, and integrate diagnostic data relevant to patient conditions.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement department improvements.
• Guide staff during life-threatening situations and evaluate intervention outcomes.
• Develop and implement innovative processes to enhance patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical leadership activities such as coaching, staffing, and performance evaluations.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Promote ongoing professional development and learning.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a relevant setting or specialty area.
• RN licensure and BLS certification within 14 days of hire; ACLS preferred.
• Computer literacy required; additional skills are desirable.
