RN - Head Nurse - Med/Surg - Nights

About the Role

The Head Nurse oversees patient care, staff management, and daily operations within a specific nursing unit. They utilize the nursing process to make critical decisions, partnering with patients and families to promote health, restore well-being, and uphold patient rights. The role requires blending caring, compassion, knowledge, and integrity to deliver safe, quality care. The Head Nurse provides clinical leadership, ensuring continuity of nursing services aligned with hospital policies and goals, in collaboration with leadership teams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and review diagnostic data relevant to patient conditions.
• Collaborate with leadership and other disciplines to identify improvement opportunities and implement changes.
• Provide guidance during life-threatening situations and evaluate intervention outcomes.
• Implement innovative processes to enhance patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical leadership activities, including coaching, mentoring, staffing, and performance evaluations.
• Support healthcare delivery improvements and communicate effectively with care teams.
• Promote continuous learning and perform additional assigned duties.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar setting or unit.
• RN licensure and BLS certification within 14 days of hire; ACLS preferred.
• Computer literacy required; additional skills are advantageous.
