Responsibilities

Follow the nursing process, which includes:

  • Assessment – Demonstrate a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze healthcare consumer data, including psychological, physiological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Plan – Set measurable and achievable short- and long-term goals according to standards of care based on the assessment by the nurse in collaboration with the healthcare consumer and multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement – Implement and/or modify the plan of care using assessment data, clinical reasoning based on standards of care and evidence-based practice. This includes care coordination, education, and discharge planning. The nurse is accountable for care directly, indirectly, or through delegation, following professional and legal standards for delegation.
  • Evaluate – Use a systematic, ongoing process to evaluate progress toward identified healthcare consumer goals. Revise the plan of care as needed, involving the healthcare consumer and the multidisciplinary team.

Document all phases of the nursing process in the healthcare consumer’s record.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an RN nursing program (upon hire)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska (upon hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – CPR certification (upon hire)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (within 5 months)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (within 5 months)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (within 6 months)
