RN Clinic-Family Medicine Center

We’re looking for a Registered Nurse who will deliver nursing care using the nursing process, accept accountability, and apply competent clinical knowledge and independent judgment to achieve quality patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
• Perform preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitate appropriate intervention.
• Implement appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrate the use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
• Accept accountability and use independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to whom care is delegated.
• Demonstrate the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources, and evaluation of patient response in delivering patient care.
• Use standards of care and practice to guide care delivery; base decisions on relevant scientific principles, established standards, or research findings.
• Seek assistance or credible resources when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Determine and revise priorities for direct/indirect patient care activities based on patient acuity and available resources; update daily care plans.
• Use established patient care support systems, including documentation, communication, and information.
• Provide educational instruction to patients and families regarding healthcare needs.
• Identify teaching and learning needs of patients; evaluate the effectiveness of patient and family teaching and document in patient charts.
• Assist in the orientation of new employees according to the unit orientation plan.
• Apply information gained from educational experiences when providing patient care and instruction.
• Assume responsibility for the development of others; engage in mentoring and networking activities to promote professional development.
• Foster the integration of staff and/or students into the healthcare team.
• Facilitate the incorporation of the unit’s mission, values, and vision.
• Demonstrate skill in managing conflict situations and promote trusting relationships and open, honest communication.
• Engage in the exchange of information relevant to specific patient assignments; interact with members of the healthcare team to meet patient care needs.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Must possess a current temporary RN permit as required by the state board where services will be provided:
  • Maryland: No temporary permit issued. Must document recent graduation from a School of Nursing and obtain a permanent RN license within 90 days of graduation.
  • Ohio: No temporary permit issued. Ohio Nurses must be currently licensed.
  • Pennsylvania: Current PA Registered Nurse Temporary Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure within one (1) year of graduation.
  • West Virginia: Current WV Registered Nurse Grad Permit. Must obtain permanent licensure within 180 days from graduation.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Associate of Science in Nursing Degree (ASN) or Diploma, currently enrolled in a BSN program, with BSN completed within 5 years of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Heavy/hard work requiring strength and stamina, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
• The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health recommends minimizing manual patient lifting; limit safe patient handling to 35 pounds. All transfers, lifts, and repositioning will use lift equipment and/or other patient handling aids as indicated by the patient’s profile and appropriate algorithms.

Working Environment

• Work closely with others; protracted or irregular hours.
• Work around biohazards and infectious diseases.
• Work with hands in water and around electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
• This position may cover multiple clinic locations; some travel may be required.
