About the role

This position is open for external candidates only to apply. This position will be filled at either the Operations Support Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Selected candidate will report to the Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWF) Operations Manager providing operations support in developing, revising and conducting field verification of facility level procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise technical work documents in accordance with DOE Writer's Guide, or equivalent, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all nuclear standards, processes and procedures.
  • Support validation of the technical basis of written procedures by reviewing the relevant technical and regulatory documents and perform operational walkdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with PA-AP-01000, Document Control Processes, and be aware of and communicate revisions to this procedure.
  • In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you will oversee the implementation of documentation systems and ensure compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.
  • Develop advanced concepts, techniques and standards based on professional principles and practices in relation to operational support activities.
  • Lead and oversee self-assessments and incident investigations and ensures accurate development and/or processing of any required reports and/or recommendations.
  • Ensure integration of facility specific requirements into readiness review and implementation verification review program documents and assist in delivery of readiness review training as required.

Requirements

  • Work processes: Knowledge and experience developing, revising, and approving technical work documents in accordance with the DOE Writers Guide, or equivalent, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all nuclear standards, processes and procedures.
  • Job Performance: Demonstrated ability to validate the technical basis of written procedures by reviewing the relevant technical and regulatory documents and performing operational walk downs.
  • Compliance: Knowledge interpreting and enforcing DOE Orders pertaining to Nuclear Facilities (DOE O 420.1c, Facility Safety and DOE O 422.1, Conduct of Operations) or high hazard facility.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Safety: Familiarity with work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel internal and external to the Laboratory.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to self-supervise and works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience at 2 level: Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Education/Experience at 3 level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience at a DOE Nuclear Facility, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program or Commercial Nuclear Power Plant
  • Knowledge of LANL's P315, Conduct of Operations Manual.

Pay

Operations Support Specialist 2: $72,800 - $115,400
Operations Support Specialist 3: $87,800 - $143,000

Schedule

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
