The Whitney Museum of American Art seeks an ambitious and experienced Sales Associate to join the Whitney Retail Team in a Part-Time role. The part-time Retail Sales Associates will delight customers with product knowledge and customer service skills while meeting sales goals and developing a loyal onsite and online audience for the Whitney Museum Shop. The associates will actively maintain merchandise presentation around a broad museum program and work with other front-facing departments, such as Membership, Visitor Services, and Security, to “own” the customer experience in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment. Responsibilities Providing impeccable customer service by engaging, understanding, and fulfilling customers' needs Efficiently and accurately process sales transactions across multiple sales channels and technology platformsResponsibly handle cash and credit card transactions, and open and close cash drawersActively maintain high standards of merchandise presentation, visually and verballyThe part-time associate will assist in coordinating the breakdown of the retail shop for events; perform inventory counts as scheduled; and perform other related duties as assignedRestocking of supplies and product; inventory maintenanceAssist in receiving and packagingMail order processing (online and in-store)Efficiently and accurately process sales transactions across multiple sales channels and technology platformsSelling and providing hospitality services Requirements Strong public-facing customer service skillsAccurate cash handling skillsOutgoing and professional attitudePrevious POS and inventory experienceAbility to lift and carry moderate merchandise weightsInterest in arts & cultureOpen availability, especially on weekendsAn appreciation of diverse audiences and work environments is essentialBA preferred but not requiredAdditional languages are a plus Compensation And Benefits Pay rate of $24.00 per hourCommuter benefits - parking and mass transitAdmission to world-renowned museums across the city and nationallyThis position will be covered by UAW Local 2110 If you believe that you could excel in this role, we encourage you to apply.
