About the role

Reynolds Community College is seeking part-time Respiratory Therapy clinical instructors to develop and strengthen students’ cognitive, psychomotor, and affective clinical skills. Clinical instructors evaluate student clinical competence in a variety of clinical settings and perform related administrative duties.

This is a part-time hourly position without state benefits. Wage employees are restricted to working approximately 29 hours per week or less, not to exceed 1,500 hours annually. Required hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 1 to 2 days during the weekday.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen students’ clinical skills in respiratory therapy.
  • Evaluate student clinical competence in various clinical settings.
  • Perform administrative duties related to clinical instruction.
  • May be required to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
  • Travel between campuses as needed.

Requirements

  • AAS or AS in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.

Additional Considerations

  • Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy or a health-related field is preferred.
  • Applicants with experience and training in pulmonary medicine (e.g., physicians, pharmacists, nurses) holding an advanced medical degree, credential, and license are also eligible to apply.

Pay

Hiring range is $33.00–$36.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
