About the role
The Respiratory Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments, develops care plans, and communicates with the healthcare team. The role is performed primarily in a clinical setting, with opportunities for professional development, leadership, and involvement in community initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Administering therapies such as aerosolized medications, oxygen, and airway management
- Managing mechanical ventilators
- Providing patient and family education
- Assisting with emergency airway management and invasive monitoring
- Collecting arterial blood gases
- Supporting intra-hospital patient transport
- Functioning as a shift coordinator
- Assisting with procedures like bronchoscopy
- Helping with discharge planning
- Serving as preceptors for students and new staff
Requirements
- Graduate of a specialty training program
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Ability to float between multiple hospital locations
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Day and night shifts required
- Weekends and holidays required
