About the role
Community Hospital is hiring a Full Time Respiratory Therapist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Responsibilities
- Provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients in all settings served by the department.
- Perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Cardiopulmonary Services Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Auxiliary in administrative tasks.
- Maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs.
- Works as a team member within the entire facility in accordance to the mission, vision, and values of the Hospital.
- Accepts other duties as assigned to maintain the quality of service to the patient.
- This position may require working weekends, evening or night shifts, flex schedules, and being "on call."
Requirements
- Demonstrates ability to assess patients appropriately, interpret results accurately and suggest alternative treatment.
- Demonstrates ability to review respiratory care orders and complete breathing treatments and IS therapy as ordered.
- Works collaboratively with nursing staff on patient therapies.
- Demonstrates ability to appropriately change modes of therapy.
- Actively assists the physicians in the clinical management of patients.
- Involves patient and significant others in the care activities as a means of informing and teaching.
- Administers medications according to hospital policy.
- Effectively and efficiently receives/interprets telephone/verbal orders and documents appropriately.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use necessary patient equipment.
- Demonstrates ability to react calmly and effectively in an emergency situation.
- Demonstrates ability to work autonomously & independently.
Qualifications
- Certification by NBRC as CRT required and maintained.
- Graduate of Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education required.
- One year experience required – post graduation.
- BLS Healthcare required within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS and PALS required within 120 days of hire.
- Certifications must remain current during length of employment.
