About the role

Community Hospital is hiring a Full Time Respiratory Therapist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients in all settings served by the department.
  • Perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Cardiopulmonary Services Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Auxiliary in administrative tasks.
  • Maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs.
  • Works as a team member within the entire facility in accordance to the mission, vision, and values of the Hospital.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned to maintain the quality of service to the patient.
  • This position may require working weekends, evening or night shifts, flex schedules, and being "on call."

Requirements

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patients appropriately, interpret results accurately and suggest alternative treatment.
  • Demonstrates ability to review respiratory care orders and complete breathing treatments and IS therapy as ordered.
  • Works collaboratively with nursing staff on patient therapies.
  • Demonstrates ability to appropriately change modes of therapy.
  • Actively assists the physicians in the clinical management of patients.
  • Involves patient and significant others in the care activities as a means of informing and teaching.
  • Administers medications according to hospital policy.
  • Effectively and efficiently receives/interprets telephone/verbal orders and documents appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use necessary patient equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to react calmly and effectively in an emergency situation.
  • Demonstrates ability to work autonomously & independently.

Qualifications

  • Certification by NBRC as CRT required and maintained.
  • Graduate of Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education required.
  • One year experience required – post graduation.
  • BLS Healthcare required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS required within 120 days of hire.
  • Certifications must remain current during length of employment.
