Summary

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Clinical Coordinator fulfills the role of respiratory care professionals in both direct and indirect patient care settings. Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Clinical Coordinator duties include evaluating patients' respiratory health status, offering guidance to patients, families, and healthcare colleagues, and utilizing the respiratory care process for medication administration, diagnostic tests, and equipment instruction, as necessary. This position also involves delivering personalized education to patients and their families via telephone encounter, virtual platform, and in clinical settings. RCP clinical coordinator collaborates with physicians and nurses to develop and implement tailored care plans and strategies for patients with specific respiratory conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care.
  • Uses clinical judgment based on respiratory skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence-based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to patients ranging in age from 0-22 years.
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Delivers care with a team-orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgement and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidence-based practice.
  • Provides direct patient care including but not limited to: mechanical ventilation, aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, suctioning, oxygen therapy, inhaled gases, medication.

Education

  • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • RRT recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and active Texas license required
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements required

Schedule

  • Shift: Tuesday and Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm - PRN status
