About the role
The Resource Service Engineer provides maintenance support services to communities throughout the portfolio under the direction of the Senior Director of Maintenance. This role provides expert maintenance assistance as a relief manager, internal consultant, trainer, and pre-inspection preparation.
Responsibilities
- Projects a professional image in all aspects of work performance, including personal habits, demeanor, and attire.
- Performs day-to-day maintenance duties and repairs to assure the preservation and upkeep of the community systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Performs maintenance repairs of essential mechanics such as HVAC, appliances, hot water heaters, electrical, plumbing, and other major repairs.
- Upon assignment to a property, quickly assesses critical and current needs, prioritizes services and resources, and creates an implementation plan.
- Collaborates with Regional Managers and Community Managers to assign responsibilities to individual staff members as appropriate, and keeps responsible Regional Manager and Senior Director of Maintenance abreast of ongoing progress and changes.
- Provides one-on-one training for new Service Managers in the first 30 days of their employment, according to prescribed protocols, and may provide additional support as needed.
- Performs emergency corrective actions to address conditions such as sewer back-ups, flooding, system breakdowns, and cleans up during and after resolution.
- Serves as a relief Service Manager, assigns responsibilities to Service staff members, and supervises their work to ensure maximum efficiency.
- When performing preventative maintenance inspections, follows prescribed procedures to inspect, document deficiencies, and outline specific conditions, assigning or performing needed repairs for residents or common areas.
- Maintains equipment on the property in the best possible condition.
- Comprehends and follows precautions stated on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all hazardous materials used in the course of performing the functions of this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.
Qualifications
- At least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing certifications highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate with residents and staff.
- Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and effective trainer of maintenance systems and protocols.
- Ability to read, construct simple written sentences, and use units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
