Water Resource Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with evaluating and developing water resources that support agricultural, municipal, and industrial water supplies.
  • Flood control and floodplain management.
  • Complete technical research.
  • Perform design calculations and data analysis.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drafting figures.
  • Prepare construction plan sets and specifications.
  • Prepare technical memorandums, reports, and permit applications.
  • Develop cost estimates, work plans and health & safety plans.
  • Carry out field data collection.

Qualifications

  • 0-8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, natural resources, or related field.
  • Degree coursework focused on hydrology / hydraulics.
  • Master’s degree in related fields preferred but not required.
  • Engineer-in-training (E.I.T.) or plans to obtain E.I.T. within 6 months.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) or plans to obtain P.E. in the future.
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SewerGems, GIS or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software is preferred but not required.
  • Strong initiative to complete tasks and motivation to learn.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness and able to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to handle assignments and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • A history of positive team interactions and an ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel to client locations and other Trihydro offices.
  • Acceptable driving record.
