Resource Planner - Maui

About the role

The M ZB Resource Planning Department of the Operations Planning & Construction Management Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has one Management vacancy available. The role serves as the subject matter expert for creating job packages and scheduling planned and unplanned maintenance and repair work for all HECO T&D Operations and Substation assets, customer new installations, and other projects as assigned. This position liaises with various process areas within SVP Operations to coordinate activities for the successful and safe completion of scheduled work, including creating and taking hold-offs, ensuring equipment and material availability, and monitoring projects to completion. Additionally, this role trains, mentors, and provides guidance for new Resource Planners.

Responsibilities

• Develops the work scope for customer, system, corrective, and preventive maintenance activities (Overhead and Underground), considering forecasted budgets, variances, past history, performance monitoring, and documentation from sources such as Asset Management, Maintenance Engineers, Engineering & Customer Engineering, and computerized systems like SAP, SIMS, and maintenance inspection databases.
• Plans work for customer, system, corrective, and preventive activities based on developed work scopes. Planning includes researching and identifying work; writing work procedures; ordering equipment, services, and materials; submitting hold-offs; making customer outage arrangements; understanding community impacts; and estimating job duration and manpower requirements.
• Coordinates work with customers and government agencies as required.
• Ensures compliance with documentation systems (SAP, Click, SIMS, etc.) and work planning policies and procedures.
• Creates schedules to coordinate Operations personnel, vendors, and outside services, maximizing resource utilization while considering equipment, resource, and materials availability, as well as budget constraints.
• Coordinates work between various baseyards.
• Evaluates and measures work progress daily, adjusting schedules and resource allocation as needed to ensure timely completion.
• Provides updates and estimates of effort needed to complete work.
• Coordinates and facilitates project meetings before, during, and after work efforts.
• Identifies present and future demand schedules for projects/work in collaboration with other departments for budgetary purposes.
• Creates work orders to track costs.
• Prepares reports on resource needs and availability, including personnel, monetary, equipment, and material resources.
• Establishes benchmarks for tasks and resource allocation.
• Promotes teamwork and a self-directed workforce in support of corporate and department mission/vision.
• Supports two-way communication to ensure feedback is received and customer satisfaction is achieved.
• Interacts with employees and internal/external suppliers and customers collaboratively to fulfill company strategic objectives.
• Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned.

Requirements

• Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil disciplines (may substitute for up to 3 years of experience).
• Journeyman Lineman or Substation Electrician certification with 5+ years of experience in construction and maintenance of electrical utility facilities, equipment, and substations (may substitute for up to 3 years of experience).
• Working knowledge of estimating, planning, or scheduling of construction, maintenance, or operations activities (highly desirable).
• General knowledge of electrical utility transmission and distribution system facilities, equipment, acceptable work practices, and safety requirements (desirable).
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, preferably with knowledge of electrical drawings (e.g., one-line diagrams, electronic mapping programs).
• Understanding of warehouse operations, such as researching inventory and ordering equipment and materials (preferred).
• Proficiency with personal computers and related software applications.
• Working knowledge of construction management and contract administration principles.
• General knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and utility finance or accounting methods.
• Working knowledge of project management principles.
• Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations/permits, laws, and codes.
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license and meet company driving standards.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in estimating, planning, or scheduling construction, maintenance, or operations activities, preferably related to utility facilities or equipment.
• 3-5 years of experience as a construction manager for small to large projects, preferably with exposure to electric utility work practices, construction contract administration, utility finance or accounting methods, and materials management.
• 1-3 years of project management experience (desirable).

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $89,100.00 to $111,500.00. The selected candidate will be placed according to skills and qualifications.
