About the role

The Residential Program Manager oversees the supervision and operation of a residential program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The role requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure. Effective communication and adaptability to a flexible work environment are essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned Direct Support Professionals (DSP).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures program operations comply with Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) licensing regulations and MARCH, Inc. of Manchester policies and procedures.
  • Develops respectful, professional relationships with individuals supported while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Advocates for individuals based on their personal choices.
  • Fosters positive relationships with families, guardians, DDS, interagency partners, and the community.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises Direct Support Professionals to ensure quality services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of individuals supported and agency information.
  • Completes documentation, including behavior plans, individual goals, financial records, communication logs, nursing logs, incident reports, and medication Kardex, adhering to deadlines.
  • Maintains records of care, conditions, progress, or issues and reports observations to DSPs, program coordinators, directors, and clinical staff.
  • Provides support, treatment, and documentation for unusual incidents.
  • Manages program budget and maintains accountability for house and personal funds.
  • Organizes and facilitates staff meetings and ensures regular house meetings are held.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of person-centered Individual Plans (IP).
  • Attends Interdisciplinary Team meetings as needed.
  • Represents MARCH, Inc. of Manchester’s mission, philosophy, and goals to families, community contacts, and the public.
  • Demonstrates efforts to improve service delivery.
  • Collaborates professionally with coworkers, administrative personnel, clinical staff, nursing, and community providers.
  • Maintains all required certifications and training as mandated by regulatory bodies and agency policies.
  • Provides emergency coverage and 24-hour on-call support as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Supervisory/management experience required.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (preferred).
  • Experience in a residential setting required.

Skills

  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Advanced computer and technology skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel and navigate all areas of the organization’s facilities.
