About the role

We are a fast-growing, dynamic painting company seeking an entrepreneurial, ambitious, and driven General Manager to lead daily operations, drive sales, and help scale our business. You will have full ownership of the business lifecycle—from initial customer estimates to final project signoffs. This high-autonomy role is ideal for a proactive leader who thrives on building teams, streamlining processes, and directly impacting company growth. You’ll have the freedom to shape how you perform your duties and flexibility over your hours, empowering you to make decisions, take ownership, and influence the success of the business.

This position is perfect for a lead painter ready for the next career step, offering hands-on experience running every aspect of a growing business: sales, customer relationships, operations, hiring, project management, and financial performance. With an uncapped commission structure, this role provides significant earning potential and the opportunity to develop leadership skills for long-term career growth.

Attendance at Fresh Coat Academy Workshop Week in Cincinnati is required. The role is sales-focused and requires physical presence in the Stamford-Greenwich area for travel to customer locations, performing estimates, and closing sales.

Responsibilities

  • Seek out new opportunities for painting projects through networking events and business meetings to generate leads.

  • Coordinate with clients to understand their needs and expectations, planning and overseeing projects from start to finish.
  • Select and manage employee painters and subcontractors, scheduling and supervising painting crews.
  • Ensure quality control on all painting projects and manage project budgets, tracking expenses for cost-effectiveness.
  • Report directly to the Owner to review sales pipeline, project progress, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with customers while maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Exceptional negotiation and objection-handling skills.
  • Experience as a Field Project Manager or Team Leader in the painting industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in basic software tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to monitor labor hours and material costs to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required for site visits).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience in consumer sales with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Proven track record of hiring, managing, and retaining field crews or subcontractors.
  • Basic understanding of business terms and financials.
  • Proven ability to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), including gross profit margin targets.
  • Self-starter with a competitive spirit and a desire for unlimited earning potential and personal growth.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package with an excellent uncapped commission structure.
  • Flexible schedule and high autonomy.
  • Company car/mileage reimbursement.
  • Technology and gear refresh.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • Leads provided by the company, allowing you to focus more on selling and less on prospecting.
  • Paid training on Fresh Coat’s sales process and estimating software.
