Residential Installer Apprentice

Responsibilities & Duties

• Assist lead installer with replacement/repairs to mechanical and controls of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation equipment sold or serviced by the company
• Maintain quality of work up to acceptable company standards
• Represent the company to the customer in a professional manner that promotes good long-term relationships
• Be courteous, neat, clean, and in uniform on the job
• Assist all lead installers with putting up truck stock, loading equipment, and filling all supplies needed for jobs
• Ensure vehicles are cleaned and maintained inside and out on a weekly basis
• Assist in protecting customer property and valuables
• Unload trash, old equipment, and any other debris left over from jobs daily
• Follow lead man's instructions
• Count and maintain inventory according to the standard service truck inventory list, including materials used on the job (shortages will be the crew's responsibility)
• Maintain and protect company assigned tools, reporting any deficiencies to the Lead Installer and/or Manager
• Report any vehicle mechanical problems to the vehicle maintenance coordinator
• Report to the manager/supervisor when not working (ample notice must be given)
• Be available for after-hours emergency service according to the on-call schedule or as Manager deems necessary based on business needs
• Input/edit all model, serial numbers, and filters for customer location
• Take pictures of new and old equipment as required
• Follow EPA and company CFC policies
• Purchase, upkeep, and replace personal hand tools, meters, and other specialized tools required to perform job duties
• Follow all rules and guidelines listed in employee handbook
• Perform any other duties Residential Install Manager or Lead Installer deems necessary

Education, Knowledge & Skills

• High School diploma
• Trade school or equivalent
• Ability to work without close supervision
• Previous experience troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant and mechanical systems
• Basic knowledge of ductwork design and construction
• Experience in refrigeration pipe fitting and installation
• Good mechanical skills
• Ability to perform job in a neat, professional manner
• Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers (good communication skills)
• Must complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education annually
• Must have a minimum Type I and II C.F.C. certification
• Must be able to work with step ladders and extension ladders
• Not afraid of heights
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds above your waist
• Must be registered with the State of Texas Licensing and Regulations
