Residential Construction Installer Apprentice

About the Role

The Residential Installer Helper assists the lead installer with replacement and repairs of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment. This role is responsible for maintaining work quality, representing the company professionally, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Be courteous, neat, clean, and in uniform on the job.
• Assist lead installers with loading truck stock, equipment, and supplies for jobs.
• Ensure vehicles are cleaned and maintained inside and out on a weekly basis.
• Protect customer property and valuables to the best of your ability.
• Unload trash, old equipment, and debris from jobs daily.
• Follow the lead installer’s instructions and maintain inventory according to the standard service truck inventory list.
• Maintain and protect company-assigned tools; report deficiencies to the Lead Installer or Manager.
• Report vehicle mechanical problems to the vehicle maintenance coordinator.
• Notify the manager/supervisor in advance if unable to work.
• Be available for after-hours emergency service as needed.
• Input/edit model, serial numbers, and filters for customer locations.
• Take pictures of new and old equipment as required.
• Follow EPA and company CFC policies.
• Purchase, maintain, and replace personal hand tools, meters, and other specialized tools.
• Follow all rules and guidelines listed in the employee handbook.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Residential Install Manager or Lead Installer.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; trade school experience preferred.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Previous experience troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and mechanical systems.
• Basic knowledge of ductwork design and construction.
• Experience in refrigeration pipe fitting and installation.
• Good mechanical skills and ability to perform work neatly and professionally.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact diplomatically with customers.
• Complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education annually.
• Minimum Type I and II C.F.C. certification.
• Ability to work with step ladders and extension ladders; not afraid of heights.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds above the waist.
• Must be registered with the State of Texas Licensing and Regulations.
