Responsibilities

  • Assists in program direction by relieving the DD Program Director of non-routine, administrative duties.
  • Acts for the DD Program Director in the management and supervision of the residential department and employees by establishing standards and procedures for assigned staff.
  • Formulates and implements policies and procedures for the Residential Department (e.g., timekeeping, leave without pay, tardiness, sick leave, absenteeism, holidays, overtime) and reviews/updates them as necessary.
  • Develops, implements, posts, and updates working schedule assignments for all TPWs and RCS1s in a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week operation.
  • Authorizes extra hours and overtime to maintain a safe, secure working/living setting.
  • Implements vacation selection and assignment processes for all TPWs and RCS1s.
  • Schedules TPWs to provide on-campus day program services and off-campus errand services.
  • Supervises staff, including approving/disapproving leave requests, counseling employees as necessary, completing performance evaluations, conducting staff meetings, and serving as a liaison between residential staff and other departments.
  • Represents and acts for the DD Program Director at meetings.
  • Serves as a liaison between supervisors and departmental staff, providing direction through written and verbal communication to ensure efficient residential operations.
  • Interviews and trains new residential staff and provides orientation on schedules, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitors the LOA process for TPWs and RCS1s, initiating staff disability separation actions when warranted.
  • Assists cottage RCS and QIDP staff in managing and reducing patterns of absenteeism and/or injury among TPW staff.
  • Provides in-service training on policies and procedures.
  • Inventories and orders supplies for the department.

Requirements

  • 24 months of training or experience in providing direct care to patients and/or participating in the development and/or carrying out of habilitation/treatment plans for individuals with developmental or mental disabilities.
  • 6 months of the required training/experience must have been as a ward charge or team leader, with responsibility for ensuring other workers performed their duties and maintaining safety and sanitation of the assigned work area.
  • Equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
