About the role

The Center for Diabetes Technology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Technician to assist with trials centered around diabetes. Shifts will be variable in time and location and may include weekend, evening, or daytime hours. Most shifts will involve patient contact.

Responsibilities

  • Follow HIPAA guidelines regarding patient health information
  • Be reliable and detail-oriented
  • Monitor and troubleshoot a computer system, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Android phone during a clinical trial
  • Data maintenance, which may involve compiling, coding, categorizing, and storing data in an electronic format
  • Handling and processing lab specimens
  • Organizing, setting up, and cleaning study devices

Requirements

  • Experience with Windows and ability to learn and troubleshoot new technology
  • Understanding of Android and Apple cell phones and Bluetooth technology (beneficial)
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory or with participant-facing work
  • CPR, CITI, and Bloodborne pathogen training (preferred)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience required

Skills

  • Windows proficiency
  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot new technology
  • Understanding of Android and Apple cell phones and Bluetooth technology (beneficial)
