Research Technician B

Responsibilities

• Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures.
• Mouse Colony Management:
• Mouse genotyping
• Tail tipping and PCR assays
• Immunohistochemical staining of sectioned tissue and image acquisition by fluorescence microscopy
• Harvesting and processing of mouse tissue for histology, RNA analysis, proteomics and related procedures
• Preparation of protein extracts from frozen tissue and western blotting
• Occasionally analyze data
• Rarely interpret data
• Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals

Qualifications

• Required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related science (biological science is preferred) or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience.
• Undergraduate or postbaccalaureate experience in a biological sciences laboratory is preferred.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rates for this position are listed below. This rate is based on the 1199 bargaining unit contract.

• Hiring Rate: USD $27.60/Hr.
• Post Probationary Rate: USD $28.13/Hr.
• Job Rate: USD $29.30/Hr.
