Research Associate in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania specializing in brain tumor biology and human genetics

Responsibilities

• Working with the Principal Investigator on designing, carrying out, and analyzing complex experiments in the area of brain tumor biology.
• Leading the implementation of experimental projects, design of the translational/basic science experiments to test hypotheses related to research goals.
• Using in vitro (cell culture/organoids), in vivo animal models, and primary patient samples.
• Conducting thorough data analysis, manuscript preparation, and responsibilities related to grant preparation.
• Learning novel computational platforms required for analysis of single, bulk, and multiplatform chromatin, RNA, proteomic, and metabolic profiles.
• Developing independence in research through writing grants and peer-reviewed publications.
• Serving as a supervisor of more junior lab members and ensuring the day-to-day operations of the lab.
• Organizing lab meetings and ensuring that individual lab members are prepared for their presentations at the weekly lab meetings.

Requirements

Expertise is required in the specific area of omics (transcriptomics and computational skills), immunologic assays, and animal experiments/creation of novel genetic models.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
• 3-5 years of experience.
