Research Associate in the Department of Neurosurgery specializing in Neuroengineering and Translational Nerve Repair

Responsibilities

  • Working with the principal investigator to lead translational research in rodent and porcine models of nerve and spinal cord injury
  • Developing neuroprotective therapeutics, engineered tissues, and implantable devices
  • Managing interdisciplinary teams and coordinating with CROs
  • Supporting grant submissions, intellectual property filings, and early-stage translational activities
  • Disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications and national presentations
  • Co-teaching academic entrepreneurship courses for graduate and professional students

Qualifications

  • Expertise in the specific area of peripheral nerve injury, spinal cord injury, and regenerative technologies, with emphasis on clinically relevant outcome measures in both small and large animal models
  • Experience in neural tissue biofabrication, including biomaterial characterization, in vitro modeling, therapeutic screening, and in vivo implantation
  • Prior experience with commercialization, startup formation, or teaching in academic entrepreneurship is strongly preferred
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent degree
