About the role
Provide technical support for NIH-funded studies investigating how metabolic dysfunction promotes prostate cancer progression through methylglyoxal-mediated DNA damage. Execute laboratory experiments and maintain day-to-day research operations in a collaborative translational research environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform mammalian cell culture, including maintenance of prostate cancer cell lines and primary cultures
- Conduct molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology experiments, including Western blotting, qPCR, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and ELISA
- Assist with mouse studies, including tissue collection, sample processing, and record keeping
- Prepare samples for histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and LC-MS/MS analyses
- Maintain laboratory inventories, prepare reagents, order supplies, and ensure laboratory organization and compliance
- Accurately document experiments, analyze data, and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks
- Participate in laboratory meetings and contribute to troubleshooting and protocol optimization
- Assist with preparation of figures, reports, and manuscripts
- Perform general laboratory duties such as stocking supplies and perform routine analysis of samples
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques preferred
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
