Research Associate, Molecular Biology

This is a part-time contract, lab-based position involving the execution of molecular biology and AAV production experiments at the lab bench and tissue culture hood.

Responsibilities

• Molecular biology tasks involve the use of pipets to isolate DNA and RNA from cells, set up PCRs, and perform molecular cloning (restriction digestion/ligation, Gibson cloning, Golden Gate Cloning).
• Cell biology tasks focus on the production of AAV in suspension 293 cells (cell culture, transfection), followed by ÄKTA-based purification (cell harvest/lysis, resin binding, elution, buffer exchange).
• Experiments will generally take between 4-8 hours to complete each day, 3-5 days per work week.
• Keep an up-to-date lab notebook and document each experiment and results.
• Follow all safety protocols based upon training sessions conducted at hiring and then annually.
• Maintain a clean, organized lab environment and order needed reagents and supplies.

$35 - $42 per hour
