About the role
The purpose of this position is to perform molecular biology research related to NIH grants.
Responsibilities
- Carry out independent research experiments using a variety of techniques, including biochemical assays, electrophoresis, bacterial growth, plasmid DNA preparation, cloning, mutagenesis, PCR, RT-PCR, Southern and Northern blotting, reporter assays, protein expression and purification, in vitro mutagenesis, and biochemical assays.
- Conduct next-generation RNA sequencing, RNA-seq library construction, and data analysis.
- Write manuscripts and assist in the preparation of reports, abstracts, and proposals.
- Make presentations at lab meetings and attend other meetings.
- Order chemicals and supplies specific to the current project.
Requirements
- PhD in biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, or a closely related field.
- Strong publication record and history of research productivity.
- High degree of independent judgment and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students, including mentoring graduate students.
Qualifications
- Relevant laboratory experience with various molecular biological techniques.
- Three years of post-doctoral experience in a relevant field.
