Molecular Biology Associate

TekWissen is a global workforce management provider headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan that offers strategic talent solutions to clients worldwide. This is a 6-month temporary, onsite assignment located in Durham, NC 27709.

About the role

Work in a fast-paced, dynamic agricultural biotechnology team focused on innovating new breeding technologies to deliver higher quality seeds to benefit farmers. Collaborate with a team of knowledgeable researchers to solve challenges collectively.

Time allocation: 80% lab work, 10% in-office computer work, 5% greenhouse. Occasional weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out guided research experiments involving molecular biology.
• Collect and summarize data.
• Attend weekly team meetings.
• Compile and communicate regular reports on research progress, including basic data analysis in Microsoft Excel or similar.
• Work independently and under limited supervision to plan and execute research experiments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Biology, Plant Genetics, or a related field.
• Experience in molecular cloning, including vector design, assembly, PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, ligation reactions, and sequence analysis.
• Experience with troubleshooting PCR and/or enzymatic assays (preferred).
• Experience with sterile plant tissue culture (preferred).
• Experience with confocal or other light microscopy (preferred).
• Knowledge and/or experience in plant genetics and physiology.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a dynamic, collaborative team environment.
• High level of personal integrity for faithful execution of experimental designs and appropriate documentation of results.
• Ability to maneuver and deliver results in a fast-changing environment.
