About the Role

The Safety Coordinator evaluates field and Division safety conditions through auditing, monitoring, and advising company management on findings. They communicate the company’s safety programs, coordinate and maintain TEAM’s safety initiatives, and ensure compliance with company, client, and governmental safety requirements at job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards.
  • Provides direction to jobsite supervisors on safe work practices.
  • Resolves safety concerns in the field in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with management and clients, providing updates on safety activities.
  • Performs routine safety inspections on job sites and documents all inspection activities.
  • Investigates, reports, and follows up on all work-related injuries and accidents.
  • Initiates recordkeeping on accidents and near misses, relays information to corporate, and maintains files on each case.
  • Ensures Districts comply with safety and technical training requirements.
  • Ensures Districts maintain an adequate supply of approved safety PPE (e.g., ear plugs, glasses, gloves, harnesses).
  • Reviews and assists Districts with maintaining all required OSHA logs and summaries for injuries.
  • Conducts Smith System driver training as needed and maintains associated records.
  • Works with Managers and Supervisors to ensure Field Evaluations and Job Safety Analysis Audits are performed properly and maintains associated files.
  • Conducts random vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are in acceptable operating condition and contain required safety equipment.
  • Conducts and/or assists with monthly safety meetings for the Districts.
  • Ensures all vehicle and PPE inspections are completed.
  • Ensures Districts maintain the most current safety, training, and QA manuals, as well as training aids.
  • Assists Districts with completing customer-issued PQF forms.
  • Performs scheduled audits and provides comprehensive reports to ensure compliance with applicable TISI, OSHA, DOT, RSPA, FMCSA, and EPA Safety Policies and Standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree in a health, safety, or environmental-related discipline.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of prior experience in a safety role in an industrial setting.
  • Holds OSHA certifications in at least 30-hour courses or other equivalent certifications.

Work Conditions

  • Position is based out of a District location with field duties requiring indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
  • Interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must tolerate climate changes.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform routine office duties.
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations.
  • Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
