About the Role

Primary field health and safety support for the gas operations team, covering various compressor stations, meter stations, and pipeline rights-of-way in South Florida. This position supports the operations team in developing a strong culture of safety, ensuring compliance across all responsibilities. The role requires frequent travel within the territory and effective communication with various internal clients.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the company’s safety policies and programs, acting as a highly visible safety leader.
  • Assist with work planning for critical safe work tasks and review work plans sent to safety representatives.
  • Lead and/or participate in pre-job safety meetings with ETP or contract representatives prior to projects.
  • Visit field work to evaluate safety program compliance during various activities.
  • Keep the area/division updated on corporate safety initiatives, company statistics, and district-specific statistics.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for safety-related issues, consulting with management and teams.
  • Provide interpretations of regulatory standards, company procedures, and policies related to safety.
  • Stay updated on company policy changes and regulatory/industry changes related to safety.
  • Attend required training to maintain knowledge and proficiency.
  • Review SDS requests as part of the chemical approval process.
  • Assist management and DOT drivers with regulatory and company procedure vehicle and driver compliance.
  • Provide training to field techs on safety SOPs.
  • Assist with entering unwanted events and near misses into the IMS system and follow up on safety-related reports.
  • Provide safety-related training to employees as needed and attend/lead company safety meetings.
  • Review quarterly exception reports for accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Attend bi-weekly safety representative conference calls and annual meetings.
  • Conduct local safety audits or inspections of facilities and assets.
  • Conduct quality job reviews of projects to verify compliance with company policies, focusing on LOTO, hot work, confined space entry, electrical, cranes, and excavation projects.
  • Participate in corporate safety compliance audits and work with management to identify corrective actions.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist with and verify facility compliance with recurring reviews and tasks (e.g., driving hazard surveys, LOTO reviews, PPE hazard assessments).
  • Conduct or assist with incident or near-miss investigations, applying root cause methodologies such as TapRoot.
  • Lead incident investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent unwanted events.
  • Review and categorize near-miss vs. good catch entries in IMS.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling, including sound level surveys, air sampling, lighting surveys, lead surveys, and asbestos surveys.
  • Secure or assist with securing contractors for industrial hygiene surveys.
  • Complete and/or review documentation and submit to the IH database.
  • Assist teams with NORM sampling training, respirator fit testing, and documentation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company applications and databases (e.g., SDSOnline, Intelex, My Learning, Veriforce/Verisource).

Requirements

  • Ability to perform incident investigations using appropriate techniques and identify root causes.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
  • Sound judgment and knowledge of safety rules and practices with a strong safety record.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in relevant company applications.
  • Dependable, reliable, and positive work performance history.
  • Good organizational and customer relations skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Representative – Safety: 6+ years of experience.
  • Sr Representative – Safety: 8+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 6+ years of general experience in the oil/gas industry preferred.
