Replenishment Buyer

About the Role
This remote role is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels through accurate forecasting, purchasing, and replenishment of products. The Replenishment Buyer ensures consistent product availability while minimizing excess inventory, spoilage, and stockouts. Travel up to 25%. Preferably based in Syracuse, Dallas, or Kansas City; candidates must be located in the Central or Eastern time zone.
Responsibilities
- Monitor inventory levels and execute timely replenishment orders based on demand trends.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels to support service requirements while minimizing overstock and shrink.
- Manage order cycles (daily/weekly) to ensure consistent product availability.
- Adjust purchasing based on seasonality, promotions, and operational needs.
- Analyze historical usage, sales trends, and seasonality to forecast product needs.
- Continuously refine forecasts to improve accuracy and reduce waste.
- Partner with operations and leadership to align purchasing with business demand.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding order placement, delivery schedules, shortages, and substitutions.
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to support warehouse operations.
- Resolve product availability or quality issues in collaboration with vendors.
- Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure efficient receiving, storage, and inventory flow.
- Support proper product rotation (FIFO) and handling to maintain freshness and quality.
- Assist in managing product transitions, new item setup, and discontinuations.
- Track and manage key performance indicators such as fill rate, inventory turns, spoilage, and service levels.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory efficiency and reduce costs.
- Utilize ERP or inventory management systems to manage purchasing and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records for inventory tracking and traceability.
- Support audit and compliance requirements as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5+ years of experience in inventory management, replenishment, or purchasing.
- Experience working with perishable or high-turn inventory preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or similar).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, forecasting).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
- Understanding of inventory flow, demand planning, and replenishment processes.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in foodservice, vending, commissary, or distribution environments.
- Knowledge of perishable inventory management and shrink control.
- Familiarity with forecasting or demand planning tools.
- Understanding of food safety standards (HACCP, FDA, USDA).
Pay
$75,000 – $85,000 per year
