About the role
The Manager Rental is responsible for leading the business unit to overall profitability and growth of the rental product line through successful implementation of marketing, sales execution, financial responsibilities, leadership, operations, fleet management, customer retention, development and communication.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operational efficiencies across all locations
- Oversee day-to-day coordination of resources both asset and personnel to meet customer needs
- Ensure and maintain a safe work environment
- Directly responsible for ensuring effective communication between the rental operations and the maintenance operations on a local level throughout the entire business unit
- Drive profitable revenue growth by maintaining and growing customer relationships
- Responsible for overall satisfaction for all internal and external customers
- Oversee all customer concerns, issues, disputes in order to maintain and grow the relationship
- Builds constructive and effective relationships with both internal and external customers
- Communicates effectively across all functions
- Maintains composure when addressing stressful situations
- Clearly articulates Ryder’s product and service offerings
- Drive rental utilization through successful market penetration using sound marketing activities
- Oversee all RAM and Rental Counter marketing activities including consumer, local, regional and national programs
- Coordinate all marketing activities of RAMs and all rental personnel
- Oversee and direct all marketing promotions such as direct mail, inbound and outbound telemarketing, outside sales efforts, weekly blitz activities
- Ensure inbound and outbound telemarketing standards are being met at the company’s required levels
- Drive and execute sales events such as blitzes and customer appreciation activities
- React to market changes with a sense of urgency in order to maintain and grow market share
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels at all full-service locations
- Anticipate market and customer needs by moving equipment in or out of locations to meet demands
- Recognize and react quickly to market opportunities
- Accurately forecast market potential and current demand to optimize and react appropriately with the fleet and sales force
- Responsible for overall profitability of the rental product line, specifically achieving both revenue and margin plans
- Directly responsible for maintaining compliance with company, local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies
- Ability to forecast monthly, quarterly and annual results accurately and timely
- Responsible for analyzing and interpreting performance through multiple financial reports and metrics
- Responsible for the overall development and guidance of employees to meet revenue and margin goals
- Understand the importance of responsibility, accountability and commitment
- Drive consistency across locations by ensuring proper branding of the Ryder label (i.e., proper uniforms, office appearance, fleet condition, point of sale marketing materials, hours of operation)
- Enforce authority guidelines/limits for pricing within the rental counter, RSRs and RAM sales forces
- Maintain competitive awareness and market pricing
- Directly responsible for overseeing the execution of the entire plan to close process at all locations
- Responsible for sales protocols between all RAMs and Rental Counters including lead generation and follow-up
Qualifications
- College degree or Technical Certification required in a related field of study
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field of study
- Three (3) years or more of rental or sales experience required
