About the role

The Translation & Localization Specialist will translate or review approved materials to ensure they are culturally appropriate and understandable for underserved youth and families. This role requires professional fluency in English and at least one additional language, strong cultural awareness, and familiarity with accessibility tools.

Responsibilities

• Translate or review approved web, app, email, video, workshop, help, and outreach content
• Preserve meaning, tone, reading level, calls to action, and safeguarding language
• Maintain glossaries, style guidance, source references, version records, and reviewer notes
• Identify text expansion, date, number, layout, image, caption, and accessibility considerations
• Coordinate with fluent reviewers and program owners before publication
• Flag ambiguous, sensitive, legal, medical, financial, or culturally specific wording
• Use approved systems and protect unpublished content and participant information
• Avoid machine-only publication, invented claims, or unauthorized interpretation services
• Verify final implementation and report localization defects

Qualifications

• Professional or highly proficient fluency in English and at least one additional language
• Translation, localization, editing, education, community outreach, or multilingual content experience
• Strong cultural awareness, research, consistency, and attention to detail
• Familiarity with accessibility, plain language, captions, or localization tools is helpful
• At least 18 years old and willing to complete screening and confidentiality requirements
