Remote Volunteer Translation & Localization Specialist — iLevelUP

Responsibilities

• Translate approved content while preserving meaning, tone, reading level, and calls to action
• Localize interface labels, instructions, educational content, email, web, and support materials
• Review machine-assisted or human translations for accuracy and cultural relevance
• Maintain terminology glossaries, style guidance, and translation memory
• Identify text-expansion, formatting, accessibility, and right-to-left considerations
• Test localized content in context and report language or usability issues
• Collaborate with content, design, product, accessibility, and QA teams
• Protect privacy and use respectful language when describing underserved youth and communities

Qualifications

• Professional or demonstrated fluency in English and at least one additional language
• Translation, localization, interpretation, education, communications, or community-engagement experience
• Excellent writing, editing, cultural judgment, and attention to detail
• Able to explain translation choices and follow approved terminology
• Experience with localization tools, software interfaces, accessibility, or youth education is helpful
