Remote Volunteer IT Infrastructure Architect — iLevelUP

About the role

The volunteer IT Infrastructure Architect will assess and define the architecture, standards, and migration plans for iLevelUP's technology foundation. This includes mapping current cloud, network, identity, endpoint, domain, storage, backup, monitoring, and SaaS dependencies, defining standards for environments, access, secrets, logging, backup, recovery, patching, and lifecycle management, and evaluating proposed vendors and services for security, privacy, accessibility, reliability, cost, and exit risk.

Responsibilities

• Map current cloud, network, identity, endpoint, domain, storage, backup, monitoring, and SaaS dependencies
• Document trust boundaries, data flows, availability needs, ownership, risks, and technical debt
• Recommend secure, scalable, maintainable infrastructure patterns within approved budgets
• Define standards for environments, access, secrets, logging, backup, recovery, patching, and lifecycle management
• Evaluate proposed vendors and services for security, privacy, accessibility, reliability, cost, and exit risk
• Create architecture decisions, diagrams, migration phases, rollback options, and operational handoffs
• Coordinate with systems, DevOps, security, application, data, and privacy owners
• Avoid unnecessary complexity and protect participant information by design
• Never purchase services or change production infrastructure, DNS, access, or billing without approval

Qualifications

• Senior experience in cloud or enterprise infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, networking, identity, or platform operations
• Strong security, reliability, backup, recovery, cost, governance, and documentation skills
• Ability to explain tradeoffs clearly to technical and nontechnical collaborators
• Experience with privacy-sensitive or youth-serving systems is helpful
• At least 21 years old and willing to complete screening and confidentiality requirements
