About the role

The volunteer Systems Administrator will support iLevelUP's educational platform, which serves underserved youth and young people. Key responsibilities include maintaining system inventories, applying updates, supporting account lifecycles, investigating alerts, documenting configurations, and testing changes in safe environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an authorized inventory of systems, owners, configurations, accounts, licenses, and dependencies
  • Apply approved updates, hardening, backup, monitoring, and recovery procedures
  • Support account lifecycle, role assignments, multifactor authentication, and least privilege
  • Investigate alerts and service issues using approved logs and runbooks
  • Document configurations, changes, access reviews, incidents, renewals, and handoff steps
  • Test changes and recovery procedures in safe environments when available
  • Coordinate with security, DevOps, application, data, and vendor owners
  • Protect credentials, logs, billing details, and participant information
  • Never change production services, DNS, billing, permissions, or retention without explicit approval

Qualifications

  • Experience administering cloud, Linux, identity, collaboration, DNS, backup, monitoring, or SaaS systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, security hardening, access control, documentation, and recovery fundamentals
  • Familiarity with privacy-sensitive or youth-serving technology is helpful
  • Reliable, calm communication during incidents
  • At least 21 years old and willing to complete screening and confidentiality requirements

This is a remote, recurring role. Volunteers expect approximately 4–8 hours per month.
