Senior Systems Administrator (Remote)
About the Role
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of unique software platforms. This position supports the Manager with the administration, integration, and maintenance of the system platform, assesses internal business processes for efficiency, and handles data reporting, configuration, analytics, and dashboarding. The role involves coordinating and facilitating project-related meetings, providing guidance to internal stakeholders, and maintaining content integrity of the system's software.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational governance oversight and advisory support for control improvement and governance opportunities.
- Maintain documentation for governance and re-performance ability using the system software solution.
- Coordinate and conduct internal operational/process-level audits.
- Analyze and align functional area policies, procedures, SOPs, workflows, and systems to ensure compliance with regulations, contractual commitments, and mandates.
- Review complex business processes, identify risks and controls, and elevate findings to mitigate risk or exposure.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving system problems, working with the software vendor to implement solutions.
- Test and validate changes to correct or enhance systems.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to elicit, review, analyze, interpret, and document business/system requirements.
- Perform business and technical design functions, supporting functional area specialists, architects, and technology teams.
- Extract data from the system software solution and develop front-end presentations and dashboards.
- Work with the system vendor and internal stakeholders to isolate and solve design problems or data anomalies during testing and implementation.
- Create test cases to validate system changes.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Resource in customer interactions (internal and external).
- Analyze existing workflows and implement new workflows as needed.
- Ensure compliance management solutions are identified, understood, communicated, and adopted corporate-wide.
- Develop and deliver ad-hoc reports with analysis on a regular basis or as requested.
- Maintain day-to-day application content and associated documentation.
- Develop training materials and provide guidance to users for general application use.
- Perform routine maintenance of the system software platform, including user assistance, training, testing, workflows, and addressing user feedback.
- Proactively identify future opportunities and enhancements for the application.
- Collaborate with the system vendor for software upgrades or new application modules.
- Ensure appropriate product-related training and documentation are available to end users.
- Communicate technical and business problems clearly and concisely to achieve resolution.
- Assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff; may lead a team of matrixed resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field OR an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years of experience in a systems administration or closely related role.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting healthcare or insurance industry environments (preferred).
- Familiarity with Mainframe operations and batch processing concepts.
- Experience working with Ensono or similar managed service providers.
- Knowledge of Control-M scheduling administration and workload automation.
- Experience with ServiceNow.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- PMP, Agile, or related operational certifications.
Skills
- Experience in Mainframe Systems.
- Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of various operating systems and platforms.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Pay
Salary Range: $81,720 - $162,305. The disclosed range considers factors such as scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market/business considerations. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range.
