About the role

On-site Immigration Specialist based in either Dallas, TX or New York, NY, serving as a key member of the Americas immigration team within a major financial-services client’s Global Mobility function. The role acts as a primary liaison to internal stakeholders and external counsel to execute the firm’s immigration strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a mixed caseload of nonimmigrant and immigrant/green-card matters.
  • Track and escalate cases judiciously to ensure immigration milestones are met.
  • Proactively coordinate with external immigration counsel and HR teams.
  • Advise business partners and managers on immigration-related decisions while adhering to firm policies and counsel guidance.
  • Communicate immigration developments that affect the employee population.
  • Handle ad-hoc US government inquiries and Canada/LatAm immigration issues for local employees.
  • Support immigration processes for interns and new hires.
  • Participate in annual immigration projects (e.g., H-1B visa lottery).
  • Update policy documentation, employee FAQs, immigration resources, and standardized communications.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc reporting and metrics requests.
  • Conduct data validation on immigration support documentation for Americas (primarily US) filings.
  • Collaborate with the Global Mobility team on relocation-related immigration considerations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of corporate US immigration experience covering both nonimmigrant and immigrant/green-card matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Analytical rigor with a proven ability to perform data audits and ensure accuracy in government filings and internal records.
  • Client-service focus, responsiveness, and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach.
  • Self-starter comfortable working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills; ability to explain complex immigration processes in simple terms.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and sensitivity regarding immigration information.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgement and critical thinking to identify potential legal or timeline bottlenecks and propose solutions.
  • Experience operating as part of a global team.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and eager to learn and develop.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including V-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Prior exposure to the Global Mobility field is advantageous but not essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime during peak immigration cycles.
