About the role

On-site Immigration Specialist based in either Dallas, TX or New York, NY, serving as a key liaison within a major financial-services client’s Americas immigration team (part of the firm’s Global Mobility function). The role ensures the successful execution of the firm’s immigration strategy and requires a solid foundation in both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa and green-card matters, along with an appreciation for policy and process.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a caseload of nonimmigrant and immigrant/green-card visa matters.
  • Track work and exercise sound judgment when escalating matters.
  • Proactively manage the caseload and liaise with external immigration counsel and HR teams to meet immigration milestones.
  • Advise and guide stakeholders (business partners and managers) on immigration-related business decisions, ensuring adherence to firm policies and counsel guidance.
  • Update stakeholders on immigration developments impacting the employee population.
  • Liaise with external immigration counsel on ad-hoc issues, including US government inquiries and Canada or LatAm immigration matters for local employees.
  • Assist with immigration issues for interns and new hires.
  • Serve as a project-team member on annual immigration-related projects (e.g., H-1B visa lottery).
  • Update policy/process and project-plan documentation (e.g., employee FAQs, immigration resources, standardized communications).
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and metrics requests.
  • Conduct data validation on immigration-support documentation for Americas (primarily US) government filings.
  • Collaborate with other Global Mobility team members on immigration considerations and drivers for relocations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of corporate US immigration experience in both nonimmigrant and immigrant/green-card visa matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Analytical rigor with a proven ability to perform data audits, ensuring complete accuracy in government filings and internal record-keeping.
  • Client-service focus, responsiveness, and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach.
  • Self-starter able to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Good communication and relationship-management skills—ability to explain complex immigration processes in simple terms.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and sensitivity of immigration information.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Good judgment and critical thinking—ability to identify potential legal or timeline bottlenecks and escalate with proposed solutions.
  • Experience operating as part of a global team.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and keen to learn and develop.
  • Proficiency with Excel, particularly V-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Prior exposure to the Global Mobility field is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work overtime, particularly during peak immigration cycles.
