Responsibilities
- Sorts incoming requests via mail, email and fax
- Provides a high level of attention to detail, while maintaining a professional and caring demeanor when answering a high volume of incoming calls from requesters via an ACD telephone line
- Analyzes requests
- Database processing
- Releases Moffitt Medical Records
- Releases PACS Imaging Requests
- Processes requests for release of radiology imaging at patient-facing locations using applicable software
- Promotes teamwork and actively seeks ways to improve processes, quality and customer service
- Acts as a mentor and resource to other team members
- Assists the supervisor with training, scheduling, monitoring workflows, complaint and escalation resolution and interdepartmental relations
- Processes highly sensitive requests
- Provides coverage for all other functions in Release of Information
Qualifications
- Experience in Release of Information, or medical records, with HIPAA knowledge, or Health Information Management credentials
- Knowledge and experience working with Cerner applications and PACS software
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience in release of information
- Must have knowledge of medical terminology
- Must be proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office and Outlook and possess data entry skills
- Exceptional customer service skills are mandatory, with the ability to multi-task while answering a high volume of incoming calls, on an ACD line, relating to requests to release Protected Health Information, or assisting in a patient-facing environment
- Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines while shifting priorities
- Demonstrates the ability to work within established procedures
- Exhibits effective problem-solving skills including the ability to identify problems, research, collect and interpret data and facts and draw conclusions
- Is trained in de-escalation techniques
